NYC Council Votes, 29 to 22, to Extend Term Limits

below is my comment in nytimes article

so the question is who’s wearing the emperor’s new clothes - we are - “we the people” this smells like so much self interest and believing in their own propaganda - what do we expect for the foxes who are guarding the chicken koop - the reality is who protects us from those who say they are protecting us - we have to wake up and stop pretending we are zombies these politicians always tell us when its election time that they are for us “we the people” and these types of acts are only another nail in the coffin fo democracy which is more and more looking like an idiotcracy

Why Blogging Isn’t Going Anywhere Soon
Despite recent stories to the contrary both in online and offline publications, the popularity of blogging shows no sign of abating anytime soon. From its early days as an outlet for bedroom writers to share their personal thoughts to the power it holds today as a business tool, blogging’s popularity is, if anything, increasing.

A recent report from Technorati confirms that blogging is growing at a phenomenal rate. Hailed as the Blogger’s Bible, Technorati measures not only how popular blogs are individually, but also how many are currently being written worldwide. In their State of the Blogosphere Report 2008, Technorati shares some impressive figures:

As of March 2008, there were 184 million blogs worldwide

Blogs in the US enjoyed 77.7 million unique visitors, compared to 41 million visitors to Facebook and 75.1 million to MySpace

77% of all active Internet users read blogs

Apart from confirming that blogging as a pastime continues to find new fans, these figures from Technorati also act as a wake-up call for any businesses yet to have a corporate blog.

The Numbers Game

According to recent statistics, over half of all businesses in North America don’t have a blog, which means that just under half of all businesses do. If your business is in the half that doesn’t have a blog, you’re offering your competitors a major advantage over you – access to your target audience.

One of the reasons that blogs are so popular is that they offer an instant voice, both from the blogger and the reader. A personal blog can share the latest news or pictures of a newborn baby to family and friends in a different part of the world. A business blog works on the same premise.

Working on just some of the figures that Technorati provides, it’s easy to see why blogging should be a part of every business’s marketing or PR strategy:

46% of all bloggers are professional bloggers. This may mean that they’re writing a corporate blog, or simply writing about the industry that their company is in, while not necessarily mentioning their company at all.

This equates to just over 84.5 million bloggers that are, in essence, business bloggers. If your company doesn’t have some kind of blog presence, that’s potentially 84.5 million businesses ahead of you when it comes to reaching your target audience.

Online sales in 2007 totaled $260 billion. Blogs are known to increase awareness of new products and offers from companies. Less than half are utilizing this, which means that 1 out of 2 companies are losing a large part of $260 billion dollars of online income.

As the economy continues to waver and businesses tighten their belts, not using every tool at your disposal is akin to commercial suicide. The popularity of blogging and blog readers should be seen as one of the most cost-effective and essential business tools available.

my response to peggy noonan wsj article received this response so i put it up on my blog

i ask myself in you - what are people of the future going to say about us today

well needless to say you seemed to have nailed not only the mind set but the mindless set that goes along to get along - you made some impressive observations and i think anybody with a brain would have to think twice no matter what side of the fence or aisle the think they are on - but then again mark twain said it best to miss quote him -  if i was a fool and a politician - oh there i go repeating myself again - politician believe in their own propaganda - and we the people are the ones who are also wearing the emperor’s new clothes too - because we believe in their propaganda - the problem is we have been going along to get along so long that we have become or more like pretending we are zombies - but we all deep inside know better that some is not right - today political asylum is an insane asylum -

we live in an idiotcracy and what brilliant stroke of genius picked this woman out of the rat pack of running mates - who could imagine this woman, this absurdity being a heart beat away from the president in what use to be the dream of people around the world and what use to be the guiding light experiment of freedom loving people and country in the planet -

she might win the miss America-ah pageant but as you say she ain’t one who can think aloud with out a script and short snippets of cliches - and her working man’s joe six pack charm only goes so far but then again george w won over gore because he had charm - so maybe we are missing something -

and her interviews as you mentioned are like putting her in a padded cell a corral of trainers (handlers) who are the same ones who trained our fearless el presidente to answer questions from those who know she already knows the answers too -

in any case we are in trouble as a country and as a planet and we keep repeating the same mistakes the same wars the same violence the same fears since before forever and each time it gets more expensive - we need to re-invent oursleves and we keep on this revolving door of top down management by fear - what are people of the future going to say about us today

commentary: politics of distraction the war on reality

politics of distraction the war on reality

reality is like history a fiction of the facts and or more accurately called faction - but i digress the war on reality has been going on since before forever and its still going on and its getting worse and more expensive - look at all the wars and sophisticated military weapons that we send all over the world and then they turn them on our very own people - something wrong with this picture - anyway we are in the middle of manufactured chaos and greed that spiraled out of control and the latest bail out of the richest by we the people - has got to be a stretch of reality and the imagination who ever imagined it and who is going to bail us/me/you/we out -

hmmm oh… we (we the people) are the ones doing the rowing and the bailing and this idiotcracy of a democracy i mean media-ah-ocracy is all around us with media being the mistress and minister of propaganda for the government, big biz, religion - so where are the leaders of the future who are going to save the future and save us from ourselves are they going to be any different then the past (lets hope so but we were once the future hope too) - so often i ask my self in you what will people of the future say about us today? - it seems all our leaders of the world especially politician keep hammering their point of view, their propaganda and we the people are just so lost and confused and pretending that we are not too.. but we all know something is not right -  we are afraid to not belong - so we are going along to get along and i think we have to abandon reality and transparency and all these mirages and mixed up metaphors and spin doctors and word whores are just the language of the politics of distraction

maybe what we need to do just get back to being human to getting along because we have too and realize this top down management by fear is killing us - and all these so called capitalism, socialism, communism, theism, culuturalism are the isms of schism - keep us torn apart by division and fear -

we the people know what to do - politics has no conscience but we do and understand family, friends and working relationships with each other and the environment - as a an old italian organic farmer once told me - my grand kids play in the field i can’t poison them

we have been care-taker and care-giver since forever - we have to re-invent ourselves but the powers that be job is to stay in power at all cost and they know the power of poverty and fear and fear of power

we don’t need people who lead us astray and into war and to killing ourselves and each other - we need ourselves as individuals we can do a lot, we can make a difference, we can as individuals challenge the status-quo, ourselves and each other to be better - we the people can’t do/be any worse then people we have now - the politicians job is to tell us one thing and do another and with their all consuming self interest and power hungry top down mentality we have let the inmates of the asylum rule the world - and despite all this we deep inside ourselves know what we need - we need to just be we/you/me/us we need to do the next responsibility thing as one of my friends keeps telling me and whatever that means to you as long as it doesn’t impose on another - we have to act as if and what if and well i find myself in this revolving door every 4 years thinking what am i missing and what is this cycle really about and taking a step back and looking at the systemic problems that we seem to be constantly swimming in and what is real and what is manufactured and who gains and what is it about - this our fear of not belonging that controls and leads us to do the most unimaginable incredible things not only to other but to ourselves -

so i ask myself in you and wonder who gains from all this pain, suffering, war, violence, poverty - not we the people

we have been in this revolving door believing and addicted to our own propaganda long enough and yet we don’t know what else to do so we continue along the not so yellow brick road to where we don’t know but we are committed believing in this manufactured real-it-ty (chaos) while people around the world are stuck in reverse

i don’t know about you but its sad state of humanity when everything you were brought up to believe in is a mirage and nothing is what it appears to be and we keep changing the facts to fit our needs - we aren’t learning the lessons we need to teach - otherwise we wouldn’t be repeating the same mistakes - time to wake up and realize we are not only in a economic crisis but in a systemic crisis that has put us on the top of the endangered species list too

food for thought

be you

commentary: Politics of Poverty, who res-skews the rescueeeer

don’t you just love it - i call it the politics of poverty - the poor have to bail out the rich - and the guy who ran one of the largest brooookerages is the guy who wanted 700 billion to play with no strings attached (3 page proposal) to bail out his cronies - the latest sweetened bailout is now 450 pages pure electioneering spin for the public soap opera - these guys in congress and big business and media are poor looooosers who want a bail out or else they will take the rest of us with them on their bumpy road to humpty dumpty meltdown land anyway - and just to refresh your memory these were the very same guys a few years ago who made it hard for the working folks to file for bankruptcy - there is more to this then meets the eye and why is this happening around election time i ask myself in you -  so who res-skews the rescueeeer

on the Politics of Poverty - there is a reason why there is so much poverty - “We the People” who make up this IdiotCracy/DemoCracy/Media-oh-Cracy on the backs of  the poor people the workers, the soldiers, the drones - we are like toilet paper - they use us up and throw us away - look at the people coming back from wars - the poor don’t want to be poor they not lazy they are some of the hardest workers around - they often work themselves to death and when i lived in brasil in 1992 people would work hard and at the end of the day would still not have made enough to feed their families - and with the price of this manufactured chaos of oil, food prices, banking meltdown its the poor around the world who feel it the most - this 700 billion buy out is also on the backs of the poor and the middle class if you haven’t figured out who the tax payers are - but the point is somebody benefits from poverty, war, violence, fear and its not “We the People” - it is said that the trade of kings was in war and propaganda - we have to stop pretending we are zombies and stop going along to get along -  and flap our mouths and wings and say what we know in our hearts - the power of one person is more then the power of none -

Thomas Jefferson knew very well that this was going to happen and wrote and spoke about it even on his death bed - he worried for us the children of the future

” We are to guard against ourselves; not against ourselves as we are, but as we may be; for who can imagine what we may become under circumstances not now imaginable - Thomas Jefferson to Jedidiah Morse 1822 ”

“I will not believe our labors are lost. I shall not die without a hope that light and liberty are on steady advance.” –Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1821

“We are bound, you, I, and every one to make common cause e even with error itself, to maintain the common right of freedom of conscience,” Thomas Jefferson to Edward Dowse, 1803
